LEWISTOWN, IL – At Dickson Mounds Museum on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at 9:30 a.m., the Tot Time program will be ‘Butterflies.’ Tots and their adults may enjoy learning about native butterflies and moths while viewing specimens of different species. This month’s program will be presented by Max Johnson, local 4-H member, entomology enthusiast, and Lewistown resident.
At the end of the program, a limited number of butterflies will be released on the Museum’s grounds. Only one butterfly per family or group will be allowed. Butterflies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Admission is free and registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served. Groups of eight or more should call the Dickson Mounds Museum in advance to ensure the availability of supplies. The program begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. with the program portion lasting approximately thirty minutes followed by crafts, snacks, and time to explore the Museum. The Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds is located between Lewistown and Havana off Illinois Routes 78 and 97. The museum is open free to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
