Earth Day Tree Giveaway

Combine Earth Day and the COVID-19 emergency to make a family memory during this unusual time in our nation’s history. Pick-up a free native Illinois tree seedling at one of several locations in Fulton and Mason County and plant it as a family activity. Families are encouraged to take a photograph with their planted tree and share it to the Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds Facebook page to help document home-bound activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A limited number of seedlings will be available on first come, first served, honor system limit of 2 per household basis beginning at 10:00 a.m. on April 22nd.

Please remember to practice social distancing, keeping a proper distance between individuals, and not gather at the pick-up points.

Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds, 10956 N. Dickson Mounds Road, Lewistown, Front Gate. *Please note the Museum’s grounds are closed to the public

Lewistown Carnegie Library, 321 W. Lincoln Ave., Lewistown

Havana Park District’s Riverfront Nature Center

City of Canton’s Jones Park

Spoon River Library, 201 S. Third St., Cuba

Astoria Public Library, 220 W. Broadway St., Astoria

Vermont Public Library, 101 S. Main St., Vermont

This project is in collaboration with Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds, the Mason State Tree Nursery, the Emiquon Partnership, the City of Canton, the Canton, Lewistown, and Havana Chamber of Commerce, Havana Park District and the Cuba, Lewistown, Astoria, and Vermont Libraries.
