Paul Mickey Learning Series presented by Timothy P. Townsend, Site Historian, Lincoln Home National Historic Site

The Illinois Freedom Project was undertaken by staff at Lincoln Home National Historic Site and the Old State Capitol State Historic site, with many community partners, to investigate the places that best represent the inspiring stories of the move from slavery to freedom in Illinois. The project engaged historians, youth mentors, videographers, web designers, and others to present these freedom stories in an engaging way. The goal of the project is to teach history and inspire youth by presenting stories of victory through adversity. Lincoln Home National Historic Site Historian Timothy P. Townsend will discuss the background of the project as well as plans for how the project will reach Illinois youth.

Each month, the Paul Mickey Learning Series features a different speaker and topic in the Auditorium at the Illinois State Museum. For additional information, please contact events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or (217) 558-6696.
