Director of Interpretation 

The Director of Interpretation is a member of the ISM's leadership team and works closely with the Museum Director in planning and evaluating programs and services of the Museum.  For all museum facilities, these positions direct one or more specific areas such as exhibition programs, visitor services, discipline-based and interdisciplinary educational programming, fiscal administration, professional research, collections, art, and/or technical public service.  Contributes to established goals in the Museum’s exhibition programs in art, history, anthropology, botany, geology, and zoology. Curator of Anthropology - Dickson Mounds

The Curator of Anthropology at Dickson Mounds manages the artifact collection housed and exhibited at Dickson Mounds, and works with fellow Illinois State Museum curators and others to develop and improve access to collection information. In addtion, the Curator provides information and support for the Illinois State Museum's Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) team), may conduct, publish, and promote collection and/or field research on topics related to the Museum's mission including Native American life in Illinois and the greater Midwest, and related themes. Working closely with the Director of Dickson Mounds, the curator participates in exhibit development and installation, educational programming, and general museum operational duties.
