Paul Mickey Science Series presented by Hal Hassen and Dawn Cobb

"Jack the black man of John McCord" is buried and memorialized in the Atkinson-McCord cemetery, north of Colchester in McDonough County.  His death provides an opportunity to document and explore how burial grounds and the markers found in them inform us about the social, economic and technological changes that occurred in western Illinois during the mid-nineteenth century.

Each month, the Paul Mickey Science Series features a different speaker and topic in the Auditorium at the Illinois State Museum. For additional information, please contact events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or (217) 558-6696.
