The Mary Ann MacLean Play Museum

The Play Museum is a free children's area at the Illinois State Museum-Springfield. Load a jeep; crawl through a cave; examine fossils; frame art; explore collections of rocks, insects, artifacts; and toys; and play museum! The Play Museum is designed for children ages 3-10 and their families.

The Play Museum is open to the general public Wednesday-Saturday, 11 am-3 pm.

To keep visitors and staff safe, masks and social distancing are required. We are also keeping capacity at 60 percent. We are doing this because children have not been vaccinated yet, and we want to ensure everyone who plays in the space is safe. All visitors must sanitize their hands upon entering and exiting the exhibit.

If you have questions about visiting the Play Museum, please contact Kate Suits at kate.suits@ismsociety.org or (217) 782-5993.
