From the late 1800s to the 1960s, the Oliver S. Biggs family of San Jose Illinois passed the knowledge of taxidermy from one generation to the next. Building on the family’s taxidermy collection, Oliver’s daughter Hazel developed a natural history museum and library visited by area school children. ISM Curator of Zoology, Dr. Meredith Mahoney will discuss the Biggs family story and specimens from the family collection now housed at the Illinois State Museum.

Event is free with registration. Register here. The event will be recorded and shared to our YouTube channel a few days after the event. http://www.youtube.com/illinoisstatemuseum
