Walk on the Wild Side: The Story of Illinois Cats
February 1, 2021 to August 7, 2021
- First Floor Hot Science Gallery
Walk on the Wild Side: The Story of Illinois Cats features fossils and casts of some of the largest cat species to roam North America. Visitors will see representatives of modern cat species and learn about their recent history in Illinois, including the domestic cat which has spread over the world from its origins in the Mideast. Visitors will also see cat-related objects from our anthropology collections including a bobcat kitten that was buried wearing a necklace at an archaeological site over 1500 years old.
