Join ISM Associate Curator of Art Doug Stapleton for a conversation with artist Riva Lehrer whose work is featured in FIGURISM: Narrative and Fantastic Figurative Art currently on view at the Schingoethe Center of Aurora University.

Riva Lehrer is an American painter, writer, teacher, and speaker. Lehrer was born with spina bifida and her work focuses on issues of physical identity and the socially challenged body, especially in explorations of cultural depictions of disability.

Ms. Lehrer’s work has been seen in venues including the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian, Yale University, and the Chicago Cultural Center.

Ms. Lehrer is on faculty at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is an instructor in the Medical Humanities Departments of Northwestern University.

Zoom at Noon is a series of conversations with artists organized by the Schingoethe Center of Aurora University in conjunction with the exhibit FIGURISM: Narrative and Fantastic Figurative Art currently on view at the Center. FIGURISM was curated by ISM Associate Curator of Art Doug Stapleton and features work from the ISM collection.
