The Illinois State Museum’s Teacher’s Lounge is excited to present our first Book Chat. In recognition of Black History Month, we will feature Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.

Originally published as Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, the book has been remixed for a younger audience by Jason Reynolds (The Long Way DownLook Both WaysAs Brave as You).

During this session, we will explore ways to implement the book in the classroom, strategies for facilitating thoughtful discussion, and approaches educators can use to build on these conversations to create space for ongoing dialogue around empathy, equity, and justice.

Educators who join the Book Chat may receive a free copy of the book while supplies last. This virtual program is free to attend, but registration is required. Participants will receive 1 CPDU credit. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Monday, February 2nd  by 4:00pm.
