Community Listening Sessions at Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds

Dickson Mounds Museum is pleased to announce a series of community listening sessions to be held in the next five weeks. As the museum continues to grow and strategize for its future, we are seeking input from local community members about their experiences, memories, and ideas for the future of Dickson Mounds. The public is welcome to attend, and no reservation is required. For questions, please contact the museum at (309) 547-3721.

The community listening sessions will be hosted by Sara Shaffer-Henry, Associate Director, on the following dates:

ISM-Dickson Mounds, a branch of the Illinois State Museum and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is one of the major on-site archaeological museums in the United States. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of the American Indian in an awe-inspiring journey through 12,000 years of human experience in the Illinois River Valley. 

What's happening at ISM-Dickson Mounds...

In Flight  -  ISM-Dickson Mounds

Open through May of 2026 In Flight features the watercolors of artist Peggy Macnamara. The exhibition focuses on one of her favorite subjects—birds—especially those found in central Illinois. These artworks support the museum’s mission to help people understand and connect with the environment in our region.
