ISM Location: Springfield

For Immediate Release:

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois State Museum is inviting youth to show off their collections at the Museum on Saturday, January 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. during the annual Junior Collectors Day. Whether baseball cards, keychains, rocks and minerals, stuffed animals, toys, or coins, youth ages 8 to 15 can display and talk with visitors about their treasures. The Museum will provide each collector with a table, table cloth, and collection sign.

"Collectors are very important to museums, and we want to encourage children and teens to learn how to care for and talk about their collections with others. This event offers a fun opportunity to do that in the Museum," said ISM Interim Director of Education Elizabeth Bazan.

Participation in the event is free, but registration is required. Children and parents can view the event guidelines and register at bit.ly/jrcd2018 or by contacting Sarah Davis at events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or 217-782-6044.
