New Kids Program at Dickson Mounds on May 4

At Dickson Mounds Museum on Saturday, May 4 from 1:00-4:00 p.m., the Kid’s Day program will be “Pollinator Party.” Participants may enjoy learning about and celebrating the importance of butterflies and other insects! Renowned entomologist Jim Wiker will present information about a variety of pollinators. Jim’s personal insect specimens and parts of the Illinois State Museum entomology collections will be on display. Participants will also learn about native plants, paint pottery, create homes for native bees, and experience many other hands-on science and art activities.
Kid’s Day programs at Dickson Mounds Museum are geared toward children ages 5 and up with an adult. Registration is not required. Admission is free; donations are appreciated.
The Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds is located between Lewistown and Havana off Illinois Routes 78 and 97. The museum is open free to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
