ISM-Springfield
History Comes Alive banner; black and white photo of people sitting in the grass drinking beer Stop by Anvil & Forge Brewing and Distilling after work on Wednesday, September 20, at 5:30pm to grab a drink and learn about the seedy side of Civil War Springfield during "History Happy Hour." Camp Yates and Camp Butler brought thousands of soldiers to the Springfield area during the Civil War, and the corresponding flurry of activity wasn’t always positive in nature. Join ISM Curator of History, Erika Holst, for a discussion of the brawls, brothels, and crime that flourished in Springfield during the Civil War. This is a free program.
