Directions and Parking

The Illinois State Museum is located in Springfield at the corner of Spring and Edwards Streets, in the Capitol Complex, just south of the Illinois State Capitol.  

Please note areas near the Museum and on the Capitol Complex are currently under construction.  Allow extra time to find parking.  See map below. 

parking map location one   Metered parking (free on weekends) can be found along the Edwards Street in front of the museum. 

parking map location two Free parking, including bus parking, is available State Capitol Complex Visitors Center Lot one block west of the Museum. 

parking map location three & parking map location four Free parking on weekends and any day after 5:00 pm (for evening events) is available in nearby State employee parking lots. 

parking map location three Designated handicapped parking is found at the front of lot. All lots are fully wheelchair accessible.

MacLean Play Museum for Children
Mon-Sat: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Sun: Noon - 3:30 p.m.

Closed: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas
