Press Releases – Tuesday, September 5, 2017

ISM Location: Springfield

For Immediate Release:

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Music at the Museum concert series welcomes Wisconsin world music duo Patchouli on Thursday, September the 14 at 7:00 p.m. for a new, multidisciplinary show and concert in the auditorium of the Illinois State Museum in Springfield.

Performing fiery Spanish guitar pieces like “Malaguena” to the gorgeous vocal harmonies of “Sounds of Silence,” this duo takes the art of guitars to another dimension with their new animated painting concert experience. A colorful backdrop of lush, vibrant painted landscapes based on the guitar theme flows through the concert. The paintings come alive with music in this unforgettable surround-art experience.

The show on September 14 will include animated pieces of brand new paintings that go with songs from their latest album – Terra Guitarra "Of Sea & Stars" – that was released in January 2017. This is their 8th album of all instrumental music, fusing their Spanish guitar style groove with other world music influences and has been a huge success in just its first couple of months.  "Of Sea & Stars" has already charted at #1 for two months on both One WorldMusicRadioUK and Phase Global Radio (Australia) and #2 on the International ZMR new age/ambient/world music radio charts.

Patchouli and Terra Guitarra’s soulful fusion of blazing Spanish and world guitar instrumentals, spine tingling vocal harmonies, and epic folk rock anthems are infused with a visible onstage chemistry. An extraordinary bond is immediately apparent as two guitars merge into one acoustic wall of sound and their innovative, percussive flat-picking and hybrid fingerstyle techniques leave even astute listeners wondering where the drummer is.

The Music at the Museum concerts at the Illinois State Museum are hosted by Illinois singer/songwriter Chris Vallillo, and take place every second Thursday of the month. Concerts start at 7:00 p.m. with admission of $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for museum members and kids under 12.   There will be a variety of desserts and drinks available during the break.
