For Immediate Release:
LEWISTOWN, IL – The Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge will be co-hosting “Family Night: Snow Goose Spotting from the Tower” on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge, 19031 E. CR 2110N, Havana, Illinois.
Families may view a few or thousands of migrating snow geese from the refuge’s 100-foot tall observation tower, depending on weather conditions. Throughout this program participants may learn how to identify the birds, its habitat requirements, migration patterns, its sounds and calls, and other wild facts. Even if there are no snow geese, participants may enjoy the spectacular view and the sunset from the tower and a fun hands-on craft to take home.
This program is sponsored by the Emiquon Partnership. Admission is free. Call Dickson Mounds at 309-547-3721 or the Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge at 309-535-2290 for more information.
