Curious Kids: Rainbows

Two children’s books about rainbows surround a rainbow coffee filter and smiling cloud craft. In front of the books, test tubes containing yellow, blue, and red water are linked to make a rainbow. The Illinois State Museum celebrates Pride! Come celebrate with us during Curious Kids! This month's theme is rainbows. Learn about what the colors of the rainbow mean for Pride Month during story time. Discover how light creates rainbows. Fun color experiments will show kids how red, yellow, and blue come together to create all the colors of the rainbow!

Join us at the Illinois State Museum to celebrate Pride! We're inviting you and your little ones up to 5 years old to participate in a fun and educational event Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

Our Curious Kids theme this month is rainbows! Learn about the meaning of each color of the rainbow for Pride Month during storytime. Discover how light creates rainbows in nature through crafts and science demonstrations. Plus, fun color experiments will show kids how red, yellow, and blue can come together to make all the rainbow colors! 

The best part? It's all free! Curious Kids is a monthly craft and story hour open to everyone, including daycares. We can't wait to see you there!

Parking: The ISM is located at the corner of Spring and Edwards Streets. You can find free on-street meter parking along Edwards Street in front of the Museum. However, vehicles will receive citations for exceeding the park time and not adhering to the posted times on signs. Free parking is available at the State Capitol Complex Visitors Center Lot, one block west of the Museum.
